Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) is the principal organization of Government of Bangladesh engaged in the development and expansion of small and cottage industries in the country.
In 1957 for the independence of industrial development, The minister of labor, trade and industry of the United Front government of that period, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under the parliamentary law had formed East Pakistan Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (EPSCIC) which then renamed to Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) after the liberation.
In the mid-1960s, BSCIC took up the activities of setting up industries in the industrial sector along with loan distribution programs in the mid-1960s, which were created in the form of a new design of the goods, the import of raw materials and distribution among the private utilities which is still running. Immediately after independence, in 1972, with the credit and industrial activities, BSCIC started importing other raw materials of yarn, color and textile industry and distributed it at the fair price among the entrepreneurs.
In the 1980s BSCIC has focused on the development of all types of small and cottage industries and all areas and products. As a result, now each of the 64 districts has an Industries Service Center (ISC). Through the direct and indirect initiative of BSCIC, a lot of entrepreneurship and industrial establishments have been established in the country. Through which the industries are involved in the identification of entrepreneurs, entrepreneur development, registration of small and cottage industries, tax duties etc., recommendation of preferential import of raw materials and packaging material, credit activities, distribution of design samples etc.The following offices are run by the activities of the Industries Cervice Center, BSCIC.
